Comprehensive Eye Exam in King

Comprehensive Eye Exam in King
At Magnolia Eye Care, our comprehensive eye exams in King are about more than just updating your prescription. They are about protecting your long-term vision and eye health. Our dedicated eye doctors use the latest diagnostic technology to detect issues early, even before you notice any symptoms.
Even if your eyesight seems fine, routine eye exams are essential. Many eye conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy can develop silently in their early stages. Additionally, in today’s screen-heavy world, digital eye strain is increasingly common and may require professional treatment in some cases. With regular annual eye exams, we can catch these conditions early when treatment is most effective and vision is often most easily preserved.

What to expect during your eye exam
At Magnolia Eye Care, we provide thorough, personalized care. Our comprehensive eye exams in King include a full assessment of your vision and eye health. With multiple experienced doctors and a full suite of diagnostic tools, we tailor your exam to your specific needs and concerns. Our doctors take the time to explain your results and answer any questions you may have, so you leave feeling confident and informed.
Here’s what a typical exam includes:
Review of your health & vision history
We begin by reviewing your medical and ocular history to understand your unique risk factors and guide your care.
Refraction testing
We use a digital phoropter and autorefractor to measure your prescription precisely and ensure clear, comfortable vision.
Eye pressure testing
Forget the uncomfortable puff of air! Our iCare tonometer provides a quick, gentle way to check the pressure inside your eyes, an important screening for glaucoma.
Visual field testing
Using both the Virtual Field headset and Zeiss Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer, we evaluate your peripheral vision to detect early signs of glaucoma and neurological issues.
Corneal mapping
With the OCULUS Keratograph®, we map your cornea and assess your tear film and meibomian glands. This advanced technology helps us diagnose dry eye and ensures a precise fit for specialty contact lenses.
Digital retinal imaging
An Optomap digital retinal exam provides ultra-widefield images of your retina, allowing us to detect early signs of retinal disease. The Optomap captures 82% of your retina in one panoramic image while other methods typically show 15%!
Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
OCT gives us high-resolution, cross-sectional images of your retina. This is a crucial tool for identifying early changes associated with conditions like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Why is eye dilation necessary?
Dilation allows our doctors to thoroughly examine the back of your eye, including the retina and optic nerve. This in-depth view is essential for detecting serious eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
For dilated eye exams, we offer Ryzumvi™ eye drops to rapidly reverse the effects of dilation, such as blurry vision and light sensitivity. These preservative-free, FDA-approved drops begin working in about 30 minutes, with most patients returning to normal vision in 60 to 90 minutes. It’s a great option if you have a busy day ahead and need your vision back to normal as soon as possible.
In addition to dilation, we offer Optomap digital retinal imaging at no additional cost during every appointment. This advanced technology captures a wide, detailed image of your retina and helps us monitor your eye health. However, it’s important to note that Optomap is used to supplement—not replace—your dilated eye exam. We still recommend dilation every other year or more often if needed.
